New Google search data reveals existing and emerging kitchen trends in 2026. The data shows that homeowners are embracing their more experimental sides – they’re becoming more confident with bold and eye-catching colors and luxury finishes, as well as making traditional craftsmanship modern.
Millions of Google searches reveal what Americans are planning long before they start a remodel. The data suggest that customers are more interested in black kitchens instead of white kitchens, and that there's a rise in monochrome, soft modern, and hotel luxury kitchen designs.
CopperSmith®, a leader in highly customizable metalwork products, has analyzed Google search data across dozens of kitchen styles and colors to uncover America’s most popular kitchen trends and designs in 2026.
Kitchen Color Trends 2026
One trend the data reveals is a rise in darker kitchen designs. The keyword "black kitchens" is currently generating roughly 803,000 monthly Google searches, which overtakes "white kitchens," which generates 684,000.
This hasn't always been the case. For years, the bright and clean aesthetic of the white kitchen dominated American homes, and was considered a safe choice when it came to resale. However, the latest search data suggests that trends have changed – homeowners are becoming more and more drawn to that bolder and dramatic look that dark tones can offer.
The Most Popular Kitchen Colors
| Rank | Kitchen Color | Monthly Searches | YoY Growth |
| 1 | Black kitchen | 803,000 | 118% |
| 2 | White kitchen | 684,000 | 74% |
| 3 | Blue kitchen | 181,000 | 127% |
| 4 | Green kitchen | 140,000 | 80% |
| 5 | Red kitchen | 136,000 | 130% |
| 6 | Cream kitchen | 135,000 | 171% |
| 7 | Pink kitchen | 59,000 | 175% |
| 8 | Yellow kitchen | 51,000 | 200% |
| 9 | Gray kitchen | 42,000 | 66% |
| 10 | Navy kitchen | 41,000 | 223% |
But why do homeowners seem to be more interested in dark tones these days? The founder and CEO of CopperSmith® Ryan Grambart says this big shift towards darker kitchens reflects a wider move towards richer and more personal interiors. “Homeowners are becoming more confident with kitchen design," he told us. "A black kitchen can feel sophisticated, architectural, and incredibly timeless when it is balanced with the right materials. Natural metals like copper and brass bring warmth into darker spaces, which stops them feeling too cold or flat.”
Today's Kitchen Color Trends Are Anything But Safe
In addition to a move towards darker colors, search growth also shows that homeowners are becoming more adventurous with color. We've seen the biggest increase in search data for avocado green kitchens, which has grown by 4,028% year over year. Furthermore, searches for two-tone kitchens have also seen a sizeable jump by 2,038%.
Other colors that are taking more of a center stage include navy, yellow, beige, pink, cream, red, blue, and terracotta kitchens.
Fastest-Growing Kitchen Colors
| Rank | Kitchen Color | YoY Growth | Monthly Searches |
| 1 | Avocado green kitchen | 4,028% | 1,000 |
| 2 | Two-tone kitchen | 2,038% | 2,000 |
| 3 | Navy kitchen | 223% | 41,000 |
| 4 | Yellow kitchen | 200% | 51,000 |
| 5 | Beige kitchen | 191% | 31,000 |
| 6 | Pink kitchen | 175% | 59,000 |
| 7 | Cream kitchen | 171% | 135,000 |
| 8 | Red kitchen | 130% | 136,000 |
| 9 | Blue kitchen | 127% | 181,000 |
| 10 | Terracotta kitchen | 120% | 5,000 |
The return of avocado green is especially telling. This color was once associated with retro 1970s interiors, but it's making a comeback through a new, modern lens. Many homeowners find it also works beautifully with organic textures like natural stone, wood, brass, brushed nickel, and copper.
2026 Kitchen Design Trends
Country Kitchen Trends Still Dominate America
There's a little bit of juxtaposition here. Yes, kitchen and cabinet color trends in 2026 are moving quickly, but those lived-in classic kitchen styles are still very much in demand. In fact, country kitchens are America's most searched kitchen style, with around 130,000 monthly searches. Farmhouse kitchens aren’t far behind with 87,000 searches, and French country kitchens generate around 66,000 searches.
Furthermore, luxury kitchens also see a higher search volume, with this keyword attracting roughly 48,000 monthly searches and growing by 213% year over year.
America’s Most Popular Kitchen Styles
| Rank | Kitchen Style | Monthly Searches | YoY Growth |
| 1 | Country kitchen | 130,000 | 34% |
| 2 | Farmhouse kitchen | 87,000 | 77% |
| 3 | French country kitchen | 66,000 | 92% |
| 4 | Luxury kitchen | 48,000 | 213% |
| 5 | Industrial kitchen | 38,000 | 188% |
| 6 | Shaker kitchen | 35,000 | 127% |
| 7 | Coastal kitchen | 30,000 | 43% |
| 8 | Rustic kitchen | 27,000 | 60% |
| 9 | Traditional kitchen | 25,000 | 189% |
| 10 | Mediterranean kitchen | 22,000 | 23% |
These trends suggest an interest in having a kitchen that feels luxurious but truly resonates with normal, everyday living. To achieve that rustic, country home look, homeowners may find themselves bringing in timeless materials like natural wood, copper, and brass.
Furthermore, Grambart suggests that the interest in these beautiful styles points to a desire for warmth and familiarity, claiming that, “People are not just searching for kitchens that look good in photos. They want rooms that feel grounded, comfortable, and built around everyday life. That is why styles connected to craftsmanship, natural materials, and heritage details continue to perform so strongly.”
Luxury Kitchens Are No Longer a Niche Trend
Luxury kitchens is one of the standout trends in the data, as it's the fourth most searched kitchen style overall and has grown by 213% year over year.
That growth suggests premium kitchen design is no longer just for large-scale kitchen remodels. Homeowners can adopt luxury trends by making both small and large changes, such as investing in customized range hoods, metalwork, natural stone and other nature-inspired finishes, as well as layered lighting (using multiple light sources to create depth as opposed to having one overhead light).
Mid-Century Modern and English Country Kitchens See Huge Growth
According to the data, mid-century modern kitchens have grown by 5,743% year over year, and English country kitchens have seen an increase of 760%. This suggests that homeowners are becoming more interested in character-led design; they want to invest in styles that are going to add personality to their home.
Other styles have also seen quite a lot of growth, including minimalist kitchens, craftsman kitchens, traditional kitchens, and industrial kitchens.
Fastest-Growing Kitchen Styles
| Rank | Kitchen Style | YoY Growth | Monthly Searches |
| 1 | Mid-century modern kitchen | 5,743% | 7,000 |
| 2 | English country kitchen | 760% | 1,000 |
| 3 | Minimalist kitchen | 421% | 15,000 |
| 4 | Luxury kitchen | 213% | 48,000 |
| 5 | Craftsman kitchen | 198% | 11,000 |
| 6 | Traditional kitchen | 189% | 25,000 |
| 7 | Industrial kitchen | 188% | 38,000 |
| 8 | Boho kitchen | 157% | 15,000 |
| 9 | Contemporary kitchen | 130% | 14,000 |
| 10 | Shaker kitchen | 127% | 35,000 |
The data here is interesting. It suggests that designers and homeowners alike are not moved by one single design direction or idea. Instead, they're taking inspiration from a multitude of different styles and introducing multiple influences to their home. They may take the warmth of more traditional spaces and use them with the simplicity of modern design and the personality of vintage-inspired interiors. For example, this can look like beautiful upper cabinets in earthy greens that hide appliances.
2026 Kitchen Design Trends to Watch Out For
We've discussed the established search trends homeowners and designers are embracing already. However, trends are always changing, and a new group of kitchen design terms is quickly coming to the forefront.
For example, Italian kitchens are currently leading emerging trends by search volume, with around 110,000 monthly searches, followed by dark kitchens at 68,000 and European kitchens at 22,000.
Statement kitchens and curved kitchens also rank highly, suggesting homeowners want more distinctive and unusual spaces. This may look like introducing rounded countertops into the kitchen as a way to create more visual interest.
Most Popular Emerging Kitchen Trends
| Rank | Kitchen Style | Monthly Searches | YoY Growth |
| 1 | Italian kitchen | 110,000 | 22% |
| 2 | Dark kitchen | 68,000 | 97% |
| 3 | European kitchen | 22,000 | 272% |
| 4 | Statement kitchen | 20,000 | 249% |
| 5 | Curved kitchen | 19,000 | 356% |
| 6 | Organic modern kitchen | 8,000 | 1,667% |
| 7 | Quiet luxury kitchen | 5,000 | 523% |
| 8 | Soft modern kitchen | 4,000 | 5,253% |
| 9 | Hotel luxury kitchen | 4,000 | 3,430% |
| 10 | Monochrome kitchen | 3,000 | 7,082% |
What's clear from this data is that the language of design is changing. Once, homeowners may have searched for labels such as farmhouse, rustic, or modern, but now there's much more of an emphasis on search that reflects mood and atmosphere, as well as lifestyle. Homeowners want kitchen designs that fit into their daily life.
Monochrome, Soft Modern, and Hotel Luxury Kitchen Trends Are Growing Fast
These are the fastest-growing emerging kitchen trends in 2026, and reveal where kitchen design may be heading next. For example, monochrome kitchens have seen the strongest growth, increasing by 7,082% year over year. Soft modern kitchens are up 5,253%, and hotel luxury kitchens have grown by 3,430%. Furthermore, warm modern, old money, organic modern, eclectic, quiet luxury, Parisian, and curved kitchens have also seen big jumps in search volume.
Fastest-Growing Emerging Kitchen Trends
| Rank | Kitchen Style | YoY Growth | Monthly Searches |
| 1 | Monochrome kitchen | 7,082% | 3,000 |
| 2 | Soft modern kitchen | 5,253% | 4,000 |
| 3 | Hotel luxury kitchen | 3,430% | 4,000 |
| 4 | Warm modern kitchen | 2,268% | 2,000 |
| 5 | Old money kitchen | 1,851% | 2,000 |
| 6 | Organic modern kitchen | 1,667% | 8,000 |
| 7 | Eclectic kitchen | 1,579% | 1,000 |
| 8 | Quiet luxury kitchen | 523% | 5,000 |
| 9 | Parisian kitchen | 436% | 500 |
| 10 | Curved kitchen | 356% | 19,000 |
“The strongest kitchens usually have restraint, but they also have a focal point," Grambart says. "That might be a custom copper range hood, a brass sink, a sculptural island, or a material contrast that gives the room depth. The best design does not have to shout, but it should feel intentional.”
What Do These Kitchen Trends Reveal About American Homes?
There are several themes that stand out across the data. It's clear that homeowners are moving towards kitchen designs that feel warmer. They also want designs that are more expressive and individual, giving that luxurious and lived-in look. Make no mistake: they still want those classic, timeless styles, but they're also becoming far more comfortable with bolder colors as opposed to those clean white lines and creamy neutrals of the past. The all-white kitchen is no longer the default. There's a rise in black, navy, avocado green, terracotta, cream, and two-tone kitchens.
Darker aesthetics have carved out a space in kitchen design, whether through dark cabinetry or matte black hardware. There's much more emphasis on mixed materials and bespoke details.
Furthermore, the growth in luxury, craftsman, traditional, English country, organic modern, and hotel luxury kitchens suggests that homeowners have a renewed appreciation for craft and an interest in quality and long-term design value.
For homeowners planning a kitchen remodel, the message is clear: the most memorable kitchens are those that reflect personal style while embracing quality materials, thoughtful craftsmanship, and architectural details built to endure. Investing in custom elements and timeless materials creates spaces that age beautifully, stand the test of time, and deliver lasting value.
