Benefits of Copper Furniture

Multiple benefits exist from using copper furniture in your living room. You’ll learn some of the most relevant advantages below.

Stunning Beauty

Your living room will seem warmer thanks to this metal’s brilliant, rich tones, making it even more appealing for quality time with the family and social gatherings.

Unsealed copper tables change their tones with time, creating a distinctive patina with varying red, brown, and green colors. This type of rustic copper blends beautifully with living rooms furnished in a farmhouse, rural, and vintage décor. A copper table is ideal for any room with a copper range hood, sink, or other components.

These tables go nicely with contemporary decorating styles thanks to their brilliance and vibrant hue. You can build the remainder of your living room around any of these copper table designs since they have plenty of character.

Effortless Cleaning

Cleaning sprays and scrubbing pads are necessary for many surfaces. With a copper table, you can remove any dirt, residue, or grime and even light stains with just a soft cloth and a solution of soap and warm water. Copper with a patina may be cleaned with a resolution of lemon juice, table salt, and a water rinse. You not only save time, but you also save money on cleaning supplies by doing this.

You must remember to use the salt in this mixture to stop the dash of lemon juice from ruining the patina. If you’re not fond of any of the shades that turn up as a result of aging can be stopped by using wax.

Cleaning agents formulated for stainless steel or glass will also work on a sealed copper table. Avoid using cleansers like citric acid, bleach, or ammonia to prevent dulling the gloss on your sealed copper table. These compounds can stain as a result of their reactions with copper.

Copper Tables Stops germs

Many types of copper form an undesirable atmosphere for multiple kinds of bacteria and viral illnesses. Naturally, antimicrobial copper kills off these elements even better than stainless steel, another option we use for our coffee table material.

By taking advantage of these 72” coffee tables, you’re also lowering the risk of spreading germs in your home. If someone in the house is sick, these tables make excellent sanitizing stations because of their germ-killing characteristics.

easy on the environment

Because our copper is 100% all-natural, there’s no manufacturing process involved that creates any damaging waste. Copper lasts for dozens of years and doesn’t weaken as time goes on. This means two things for any 72” table you purchase.

It will not break down over time, weaken, or dry rot like a wooden coffee table will. Second, it’s made from recycled copper and will stay in the same cycle of recyclability and reusability if you ever decide to detach yourself from it.

Although many people keep these pieces for their entire lives, if you decide to give them away, sell them, or get lost in translation, the copper will be pulled from salvaged items and trash and turned into another copper item in the future.

Now that you’re more aware of the benefits of owning a 72” table from CopperSmith let’s get into your options regarding the purchase and customization of one of these unique pieces of furniture.

If you need a new 72” table or something similar, consider the following options for a CopperSmith table.

72” table base

The base of these tables can be crafted from metal or wood. Depending on the look of the room they’re in, you may want a wooden base to match other wood elements in the area. Otherwise, choosing a metal base might not be bad if you already have a darker theme or like the all-metal idea.

The table bases for these tabletops are sold separately. This gives you the ultimate control over the customization of the entire table.

72” table shape

You’ll also have the option of choosing from three different 72” table-top shapes. Your final decision regarding the shape of the tabletop should ultimately depend on where you’re using the table or what you’re using it for. We’ve listed some examples below:

rectangle

Our rectangular shapes work for multiple configurations. If you put the rectangle 72” table on a shorter base made from metal or wood, these are excellent for living room coffee tables. You could drop the base further and use it as a decorative bench in your mudroom to tie the two rooms together.

Finally, if you add a taller base, you could use the tabletop as a piece in your kitchen or dining room. This would make an excellent look, mainly if you use another matching CopperSmith component like a range hood.

circle

Our circular tabletops serve many purposes and would look great in several placements. Choose a medium-height base, and these 72” tables make a great addition to any living room as a coffee table.

If you add a little height to the base, they will go perfectly in the kitchen as a breakfast table or something similar. These 72” tables would look beautiful next to a window in your kitchen, especially situated in the same setting as a range hood of the same finish or material.

oval

Oval tables would be excellent on shorter bases as a coffee table or even situated in a more extended, wider hallway to tie two rooms together. If you have a space between the kitchen and living room that needs to be filled, the 72” table in an oval shape would be an excellent choice for pulling the two rooms together and using it as a dining room ensemble.

cleaning your 72” table

You might be wondering how to clean your 72” table, especially if you’re thinking about purchasing a copper variation. Many times, copper gets a bad reputation for durability and cleaning options.

It’s easy to keep these 72” tables clean by using the right materials and giving them the proper attention. Use the following section as a guide for cleaning these 72” tables ONLY IF YOU SELECT THE COPPER VERSION.

  • Use a clean, soft cloth, warm water, and mild soap to clean. Avoid disinfectants or strong chemicals that can dissolve the protective wax and react with the copper.
  • Applying clear paste wax every few weeks will keep your copper table top protected and the copper sealed. This will guard against spills and oxidation while maintaining the finish.
  • Apply a very thin layer of any commercially available paste wax on furniture or wood floors first. The best paste wax is Briwax, but Johnson's, Minwax, or any other clear wax you may find at your neighborhood hardware shop will also do the trick. Give the wax five to ten minutes to dry. Then use a clean, dry cotton towel to buff the surface to a glossy shine. The copper seems richer and more lovely with each thin coat of wax added. While waxing preserves the copper, leaving it unwaxed can cause the copper furniture to fade and morph over time, which may make it more distinctive and reveal its beauty on its own.
  • Avoid using lacquer on copper furniture or any other copper surfaces.
  • Avoid using chemical cleaners; dust your table after each meal with a nonabrasive cloth. You may also use water and mild soap. However, it would help if you refrained from utilizing cleaners that include abrasive substances.
  • Use a hot pad or server for anything that comes straight from the oven or stovetop to avoid heat marks, which can appear on hot pots and pans.

Scratches and Stains

Because copper is a soft metal, it may be gouged and scratched by sharp objects. The greatest thing to do if your copper furniture becomes scratched or discolored is to do nothing! Once the copper starts to take back its natural color, let the afflicted area alone and allow it to be exposed to air (just like how a shiny copper penny turns brown).

While the time frame for this procedure varies, it usually takes a few weeks. The copper should be coated with paste wax to retain and protect the finish once the afflicted area has self-healed and returned to its natural color tones. Even if the scratch isn't officially gone, it won't be seen once the color returns to the original.
