CopperSmith is distinguished by a few key characteristics. CopperSmith metalware is a leading name in construction and renovation. Its unique combination of durability, style, and top-tier operations makes it a leader. The following are the standout features of a CopperSmith 42-inch Range Hood.

Construction Material for a 60-inch Range Hood

The most commonly used type of hardware in a kitchen remodel is 18-gauge steel. This includes range hoods and sinks.

Although 16-gauge stainless is used in commercial kitchens, it’s not used as often in new homes. It is cheaper than 16-gauge stainless, so many general contractors and home builders choose 18-gauge stainless.

16-gauge stainless steel is the best when it comes to longevity and durability. The stainless steel of 18 gauge is less durable and thinner than the alternative 16-gauge that CopperSmith uses for its 60” range hoods.

Kitchen appliances made from 16-gauge stainless steel can withstand everyday wear and tear without cracking, scratching, or deteriorating. Components made of 16-gauge stainless will last longer than 18-gauge steel.

Benefits of 60” Range Hood Natural Materials

Most of the 60" rangehood's rivets and straps are made of polished, living brass. Living finished brass is a sought-after cosmetic component for brass selection. It transforms brass materials into living art.

As time passes, brass will naturally age. The brass changes over time, giving it a raw, unique, constantly evolving look. This new look adds stunning cosmetic brilliance and beauty to any kitchen or construction project.

This brass is very cosmetically sound, giving you all of the high-end visual elements you’d expect from a top-tier kitchen. Brass has excellent antimicrobial properties, killing 99.9% of bacteria in just two hours.

How Do You Want Your Finish?

Your 60" rangehood's finish is crucial to your kitchen's overall design and aesthetics. If you want to upgrade your entire kitchen with a 48-inch range hood, you should pay close attention to the finish.

You can choose a uniform finish for the entire range hood or one main finish with different materials for your straps.

There are many finishes to choose from:

  • Brass Matte
  • Copper Antique
  • Copper New Penny
  • Copper Old Coin
  • Aluminum - Mill
  • Stainless Steel Black Enamel
  • Stainless Steel White Animal
  • and many others

60" Range Hood: Measurements, Placements & Additional Components

CopperSmith will offer you various options when you order your 60" rangehood. This will allow you to prepare for any dimensions or specific colors, or design options you may make based on the hood configuration.

CopperSmith 60" Range Measurements

The best way to ensure you’ve selected the right-sized range hood is to compare it with the size of your range top. A 60” range hood is best fitted for a 54” cooktop and will provide the most efficient amount of airflow and ventilation with this combination.

Faucet and Fan Selection

You must choose the right fan for your job when choosing a 60” range hood. CopperSmith also has a line of wall-mounted faucets to choose from to place behind your stove. This gives you easier access to fill pots or pans you use for cooking without lugging heavy cookware across the kitchen floor.

Your fan/ventilation options for a CopperSmith 60” range hood are listed below:

  • 1100 CFM
  • 1200 CFM
  • 1800 CFM
  • 2000 CFM

Based on your gas range's BTUs, choose the appropriate CFM level. Add the power of each burner together to calculate the stove's BTUs. Divide this total by 100. To complete your range hood project, you can choose a custom ventilation system.

The wall-mounted faucets are available in brass or polished chrome and match exceptionally well with all the other CopperSmith textures and finishes.

You’ll also need to decide how you want your 60” range hood mounted. Do you have a regular oven mounted between your cabinets? Or do you have an island-mounted cooktop? CopperSmith has multiple options depending on how your cooking area is configured.

60” Range Hood Placement/Style

Range Hood Styles

Several options exist for the specific style, and your 60” range hood placement exists. Consider the following options before placing your order:

  • An island-mounted 60” range hood is designed for stoves mounted on your island counter. These components are usually much higher than wall-mounted hoods because they attach to the ceiling. Because of this additional elevation, you’ll likely need a more powerful fan and ventilation system because of the increased air.
  • Wall-mounted. Wall-mounted 60” range hoods are designed for placement about two feet above your cooktop. These likely are placed between two cabinets, so you’ll have to run your ductwork through an adjoining set of cabinets or directly through the wall.

Why Choosing a CopperSmith 60” Range Hood Is Your Best Option

CopperSmith is one of the leading brands in kitchen and bathroom metalware. The top architects, contractors, and interior designers trust CopperSmith with their most important projects, giving them a timeless look of luxury that you won’t find anywhere else.

Our hoods are elegant without being too tacky or over-the-top. Using all-natural, living finish materials, everything looks 100% natural. Living finish metals aren’t treated with any preservation finishes, so as time goes on, they age naturally, changing their look slowly as they’re exposed to organic elements.

A CopperSmith 60” Range Hood gives you the centerpiece you need to create the kitchen of your dreams. With dozens of finishes and configurations to choose from, you’ll find the right match to blend with any kitchen design you have in mind for your project.

CopperSmith 60” Range Hood FAQs

range hood faqs

These are some of the most commonly asked questions regarding our 60” range hoods.

Are your 60” range hoods difficult to install?

None of our range hoods are complicated to install but only require simple household tools that most people have in their homes. Any installation project involving ventilation, ductwork, or electricity can potentially run into roadblocks.

If you are replacing an older range hood or placing the new one in an area where ventilation and ductwork were previously installed, the installation will be much easier.

At the most, you might have to reroute and re-solder pipes in your kitchen wall to make room for running the ductwork. Because you’re installing a ventilation system that deals with high temperatures and smoke, it’s essential that the ductwork extends to your outside wall.

Can I use a range hood outdoors over my grill?

Yes. At CopperSmith, we design range hoods made for installation over your outdoor grill and patio area. It’s worth noting that these outdoor range hoods require substantial power, so you’ll need something much more powerful than the recommended CFM.

More power is required because you’re dealing with a much wider area with significant airflow. In addition, you’ll also want these installed higher than two feet over your grill or stove, which is the recommended distance for wall-mounted versions.

How often should I clean my 60” range hood?

There’s no designated timetable for when you should clean your range hood. Instead, focus on continuously keeping the range hood wiped down as thoroughly as possible to avoid significant deep cleaning.

Each time you use your cooktop, whether it’s gas or electric, wipe down your range hood inside and out. You can create a cleaning solution made from vinegar that’s all-natural and won’t damage the surface of your range hood.

Pay attention to any trouble spots that have built-up grease or grime. Corners and crevices, between straps and rivets, and edges seem to get the dirtiest.

By wiping the inside and out of the range hood each time you clean, you’ll avoid a lengthy cleaning session when you finally decide to break the unit down.

However, when you decide to move forward with a deep clean, the filters slide out without removing any screws. You can soak them in water or spray them with higher pressure to remove any buildup, then scrub them, rinse them, and replace them.
