COPPER SINK AND RANGE HOOD CARE AND MAINTENANCE INSTRUCTIONS

The natural patina process that occurs when copper comes in contact with natural elements is something that leaves many copper sink buyers curious about the best ways to care for the products. It is important to know that most high-quality copper sinks, like this rustic kitchen sink, are 100% maintenance free. Once you learn how the metal works, it is easy to maintain are a particular color, or simply let it go natural and enjoy the change.

Rustic Finish Sinks

These sinks are hand hammered, then heated with fire, and the color is naturally brought out using wax and oil. They will naturally age as time goes on. Avoid using abrasive cleaning products and let this sink naturally age. You may choose to apply a natural carnauba wax or conditioning oil once every six months to keep the colors vibrant.

Living Finish Sinks

We make these sinks from smooth raw copper sheeting. For those looking to enjoy the natural living color of copper, we recommend washing regularly and cleaning with soap and water. Occasionally, you may apply Bayes Teak Cleaning to bring out more of the natural colors. If you prefer a new copper look, just scrub your copper sink with a Scotch Bright pad, or a fine steel wool once a month. None of our sinks feature any sealants or lacquers.

Rustic Finish & Sealcoat Finish Bathtubs

We make our rustic finish bathtubs according to the same process as rustic finish sinks, and we recommend the same care and maintenance. Our seal coat finish baths are from smooth raw sheets of copper, baked to bring out the patina, and then sealed with a durable coating. We recommend washing with soap and water and avoiding abrasive cleaners. You may also choose to apply a yearly coat of carnauba wax.

Rustic Finish Range Hoods

We make our rustic finish range hoods hand hammered, then heated with fire, and the color is naturally brought out using wax and oil. To clean and care for simply dust, and wash with soap and water like any other appliance. Avoid abrasive cleaners with chemicals. Once a year, you may choose to apply a thin layer of carnauba wax for extra protection.

Sealcoat Finish Sinks, Range Hoods & Bathtubs

These copper products are made from smooth, raw sheet copper, baked to bring out the patina, and then sealed with a durable coating. Again, we recommend washing with soap and water, avoiding abrasive cleaners. You may also choose to apply a yearly coat of carnauba wax. Typically these are custom, made-to-order, products as most of our products do not have a seal coat, except our range hoods. Copper products naturally change color and patina over time. A color change does not constitute a defect. Enjoy copper's natural beauty!
