Bathroom BU2 - Undermount Sink

The best way to define an undermount sink is really to define what it is not. A top mount sink is a sink that is supported by a rim that rests on the countertop. (Pretty self explanatory, right?) On the other hand, an undermount bathroom sink is fastened to the undermount of your countertop with glue, in the case of lightweight sinks, but more often with posts that are secured to the countertop with epoxy cement, to ensure that they remain stable and attached to the countertop.

The BU2 is an undermount copper sink model suitable for bathrooms because of its compact size. In other words, if you are trying to maximize the space available in a relatively small bathroom, then this sink is likely an excellent option for the needs of your household. As it pertains to thickness, it is available in sixteen or fourteen gauge metal, in three different types of metals: stainless steel, brass, and copper. Furthermore, you can choose to customize your bathroom sink in a variety of textures, to ensure that you match the overall bathroom aesthetic that you have already worked so hard to create. These sinks come with a two inch drain hole, to ensure for adequate compatibility with your plumbing equipment, and can be used in residential and commercial settings.

There are a variety of reveals that you can consider when selecting your undermount sink setup. You can match the sink to the hole using three different styles: a positive reveal, a negative reveal, or no reveal at all. The easiest of the three is no reveal at all--with this style, the hole in the countertop and the sink are the same size. This type is the easiest to keep clean, but requires very precise cutting and installation. For this reason, it is ideal to purchase a countertop with a precut hole, and a sink with measurements to match it. With a positive reveal, the hole is slightly larger than the sink opening. This leaves a small portion of the sink rim visible. This allows the most leeway for an imperfect cut in the countertop, and is relatively easy to keep clean. On the other hand, an undermount sink installed with a negative reveal means that the countertop is smaller than the sink opening. While this is perhaps the most streamlined look, it is also one of the most challenging options to keep clean.

Of course, at CopperSmith, we are more than happy to help with this by customizing our products to your needs. If you find yourself in need of a custom order, please reach out to our customer service team, and we'll do our all to get you the product that you need.
